Honey Bear
Honey Bear
Imagemaking Class | 2006 | Made at CalArts
This experimental imagemaking book was a broad medium exploration dedicated to the Honey Bear as both an everyday object and a cultural icon. I treated it as a visual playground, using each book spread to test different combinations of paper collage, ink, drawing, watercolor, digital collage, and photographic grids.
The images contain literal translations of the Honey Bear as well as broader thematic metaphors.
Rather than follow my traditional process, I created the book through small daily experiments. The project expanded how I think about exploration across mediums and reinforced my interest in variation and allowing space for quick but happy failures.
