As part of BigTime’s broader modernization initiative, we reimagined the login and authentication experience, introducing Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and a new visual identity that reflects our evolving product vision.

My Role

As Senior UX Director, I led the UX, Research, and Creative Direction for this transformation. I partnered closely with our UX team (Emily Lee and Jan Starzyk) as well as engineering leads Jon Cain, Mat Easow, Angel Rodriguez, and Will Thomas. Together, we rebuilt not just the technical foundation but the entire first-touch experience of the BigTime platform.

Redefining Trust from Day 1

Visual Style Explorations
Login is often the first interaction customers have with a product, and we saw it as an opportunity to build more trust. Alongside the backend rebuild to support OpenID Connect, we designed a new front-end experience with a unified visual language that extended from the login screen to system emails.
We explored multiple styles, from flat illustration to dimensional glassmorphism, ultimately developing a repeatable visual recipe. This ensured our icons felt fresh and ownable, yet easy enough for any team member to replicate in Figma.

From Security Upgrade to Discovery Platform

With the new identity service in place, we saw an opportunity to layer in product discovery. We created a dynamic right panel that rotates promotional campaigns based on time of day, built on a "dayparting" logic that refreshes content every 12 hours and scales responsively across all breakpoints, including mobile.

I also oversaw the early access rollout, collaborating with product managers to craft in-app education and external help content. We focused on guiding customers through MFA setup and SSO configuration in a way that felt clear, non-technical, and human. You can see the resulting documentation here:

This work didn’t just enhance security. It elevated the customer experience at every level. It gave us a visual and technical foundation we can now scale across products, and positioned BigTime as a brand that is both trustworthy and thoughtfully designed from the very first step.
